Not just an international law firm, but also international lawyers

We are not only an international law firm, but our team also consists of international lawyers, i.e., professionals qualified in more than one jurisdiction. Such individuals are capable of dealing with complex cross-border and international situations without a need to consult their colleagues abroad or coordinate numerous members of the legal team. High-quality and often complex legal advice is thus delivered to our clients faster, in a more effective way and at lower cost.

In the globalised business environment in which most of today’s businesses operate, we believe in globalisation of legal services. We consider the knowledge of more than one legal system a key to provide additional value and save costs for our clients. The same applies to our knowledge of different cultural business environments and foreign languages.

In the course of our operations, we realised that often where one legal system does not offer a solution to a cross-border problem, another legal system may provide a number of possible solutions, e.g., in the Czech Republic svěřenské fondy (trusts) are a novelty but in England and Wales, lawyers and jurisprudence have dealt with trusts for hundreds of years. By having exceptional lawyers with multi-jurisdictional mindset, we have created the culture similar to many of our multinational clients, i.e., of openness to innovation and new solutions.

Our lawyers do not deal with other jurisdictions only theoretically, but are capable of providing their service in other countries physically as well, with access to courts and arbitration institutions. Our services complement the lifestyle of our clients for whom time and location flexibility is an important aspect of the way they do business. Wood & Lee lawyers possess particular strengths in the following practice areas:

  • Banking and finance
  • Capital markets
  • Corporate/M&A
  • International tax planning
  • Trusts (svěřenské fondy)
  • Insolvency and restructuring
  • International investment arbitration
  • International commercial contracts
  • Data protection
  • Media & telecommunications law
  • Technology & IT Law
  • Intellectual property law
